WHAT DOES THE E-BOOK INCLUDE
In the spring of 2017, we visited the Swiss canton of Ticino for the first time. We were immediately charmed and we love coming back. And we are not the only ones enchanted by the Canton of Ticino and want to explore it. The articles about our trips and adventures in Canton Ticino are among the most read on my blog. No wonder: Ticino beckons for its novel charm and Mediterranean flair while retaining a sense of Swiss order and organization.
That’s why I decided to take the best of my blog and create a detailed four-day itinerary for the popular Lugano area on the shores of the eponymous lake, which will be a helpful tool for first-timers who literally “don’t know where to jump first”. The itinerary is designed to satisfy both active tourists and those who like to sit on the terrace of a restaurant with a glass of Aperol and watch the bustle around. The itinerary includes a day-by-day itinerary, tips on accommodation and restaurants, as well as details on tourist attractions.
This itinerary will save you 4 – 10 hours of your precious time.
ABOUT CANTON TICINO
The Italian-speaking canton of Ticino in the south of Switzerland is beautiful for its diversity: here you will find densely wooded hills, ancient Romanesque churches, medieval castles listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, magical valleys, and crystal-clear rivers and lakes. Here you will find the smallest village in Switzerland with only thirteen permanent inhabitants or a botanical garden on islands in the lake.
The canton of Ticino is also called the “Sonnenstube der Schweiz”, the sun terrace of Switzerland. No wonder – the local Monte Brè mountain overlooking the Bay of Lugano, the Pennine Alps, and the Bernese Alps is considered one of the sunniest places in Switzerland.
Lugano itself lies in a bay on the north side of Lake Lugano, surrounded by numerous mountains with spectacular views. With its Mediterranean atmosphere, Lugano offers all the advantages of a world-class city (it is the third most important financial center in Switzerland) combined with the atmosphere of a small town.
And that’s a good reason to come here.
Ticino thus offers plenty of opportunities to mix up an exciting program full of family fun and relaxation.
